I know I haven't published much about the Terps lately. Well, it's because I have been watching the real tournament, the NCAA Tournament, even with my bracket shot to hell. UNC is the only ACC team left, so I am rooting for them at this point. Sure, the Terps are doing in the NIT, but I really don't care that much. I haven't watched one minute of it, and I don't plan to either. Maryland should win, and if they don't, who really cares? This tournament has no bearing on next year, and Gary Williams will figure out what he really has during the summer. What he should do is make John Gilchrist a shooting guard and make Ledbetter the point. You know what, that name just reminds me of the Pearl Jam song, so Ledbetter will be called Mr. Pearl Jam for now on here at this site. Anyways, I know the Terps beat TCU. Good Job Boys!

Orioles: Arrested developments

The O's seem to be housing a bunch of convicts lately. Are the O's trying to imitate the late '90s cowboys?

Ponson was yet involved in another incident on Wednesday, when he got into a shoving match in restaurant with a patron. This incident is the second one in three months. Do that many people hate Ponson down south or what? No charges were brought up this time, lucky Ponson, and the police could not release a statement about the incident. He is soon to be banned from Aruba and Florida. Hey Sidney, do you want to mark of Baltimore too, that way you have an excuse not to pitch well

Eric DuBose decided to go get drunk Monday morning and go driving. He was arrested by the sheriffs department in FL when he almost hit another car. I didn't know players even drove, don't they make enough money to get a limo or even a taxi? Is life really that hard as a pitcher to need to do this kinda stuff. What is worse is he is trying to start for the O's? I got a lot of confidence in him now not to screw up.

If you want to add to this police type blodder, then you have to mention the Sosa and Palmeiro deal up here in Washington D.C. Both players publicly denied using steroids and said so in front of congress. I am just happy they didn't blow it like Mark McGuire (that dude is screwed). Sosa at some point was asked to talk about Mark McGuire and refused to make a comment about him, guess he didn't want to be treated like Jose.

Spring training only lasts for another 2 weeks, hopefully the O's can stay out of the police house until then. Florida doesn't seem to be treating our O's very well during their visit.

Orioles: A few notes from Spring Training

The O's are going to send two players to the congressional hearing about steriods. Sammy Sosa and Rafael Palmeiro will be going to defend themselves against steriods. Congress has said they will not give immunity to players.

The starting rotation is still in the air with pitchers struggling. Rick Baur and John Maine have been struggling through Spring Training. Kurt Ainsworth will be sidelined because of medical problems in his arm.

Matos and Gibbon have looked pretty good so far in Spring Training. L, Matos is hitting .345 and 4 RBIs in 10 games. J. Gibbons is hitting .421 and has 3 RBIs in 7 games played and has played solid 1st base. Jay Gibbons hasn't played 1st base since being in the minors.

The O's have said they are willing to share the TV contract they have with the Nationals.

Ravens: Minor Deals, But Important

The Ravens signed two long snappers / backups to a couple of 2 year deals. Joe Maese and Cooper Carlisle to back up the starting offensive line and to compete for the starting long snapper position. This position is very important considering how many problems other teams have in the kicking game. Getting two good long snappers makes this position solid going into next year.

Terps: Surprise, Surprise

The Terps missed the big dance yesterday during the selection. The Terps were concidered a bubble team, but most people knew they were not going the NCAA Tournament. Not making the tournament just makes this season more disappointing. The Terps will be in the NIT and will play on Wednesday against Oral Roberts (25-7). Geez, I can't wait.

Ravens: Offensive Line-Upgraded

The Ravens upgraded their offensive line by signing Keydrick Vincent to a three year deall worth 4.64 million dollars with a 1.25 million dollar bonus. He will replace a weak position last year occupied by Bennie Anderson. Casey Rabach rotated into the guard position last year, but he was more of a center then a guard. Vincent will solidify the offensive line for the season, and the Ravens only have a receiver to sign for the rest of the off-season. They could pick a receiver in the draft to play opposite of Derrick Mason, depending on what is left at the #20 position in the draft.

Terps: Unbelievable

What the crap happened. How do the Terps lose to Clemson for a third time this season. I will tell you how. They can't keep control of the ball. The Terps game up the ball any chance they had. The one bright spot during this game was of course Chris McCray. Nik Caner-Medley needs to just stop playing because he looks like a retard with the ball. Mike Jones couldn't hit a shot if he was by himself on a court. Every time he missed a shot, Jones would turn around and commit a stupid foul. John Gilchrist was the Terps only chance going into the second half, and he came up limp with a ankle injury. Yeah, that is what it was. If I were Gilchrist, I would have left the game too. Bowers also made an effort in this game too, but it just wasn't enough. If the Terps had any chance of winning this game, the Terps needed to come out as a team and they didn't. I hate to say this, the Terps don't deserve to go anywhere after their preformance today. I just can't believe this happened this season. This team was suppose to get better this season with all their returning starters, and they just got worse. The team doesn't want to put forth the effort to win unless they are playing the Dookies. Gary, Please Fix This Team For Next Year.

Terps: One Last Chance to go to NCAA Tourney

If the Terps don't beat the Clemson this Thursday, the Terps will not make the NCAA tournament for the 1st time in 11 years. Clemson swept the Terps during the regular season, and they look to upset the Terps again. The Terps need a strong finish in the ACC tournament to go to the big dance.

Ravens: Another Hole Filled

The Ravens filled a huge hole today signing Samari Rolle to a 6 year/30.5 million dollar deal with a 11 million dollar signing bonus. What is so funny about this is that all these figures top Gary Baxter's deal. Baxter was signed by rival Cleveland Browns. Ravens still needs some receivers, Billick WAKE UP and give some more receivers for Boller to throw to.

Orioles: Spring Training Report-Week 1

The Orioles have done some good things, and they have some bad things so far in Spring Training.

Pitching: Bernard, Cabrera, and Lopez have looked great thus far, only pitching 3 innings a and allowing no runs. Dubose, Bauer, Penn, Riley, and Ryan have all struggled in their first games. Both, Dubose and Bauer have a 6.00 ERA. In B.J. Ryan's first appearance as a closer, he allowed 5 runs and has a 67.50 ERA. Penn has a 27.00 ERA and Riley has a 13.50 ERA. It is by no means time to panic, for the pitchers who are struggling are still trying to find their rhythm. The great thing is that the front runners in the starting rotation are doing so well coming out of the gate. None of them looked like they struggled at all.

Batting: The surprise so far is how well Jay Gibbons has done. He had major injury problems last year, and he seems to be recovered. He is hitting .500 right now through 5 games, and he looks very comfortable playing his natural position at 1st base. Another surprise thus far is Chris Gomez because he will be the O's primary utility guy. He is hitting over .500 at the moment and looks strong in the field. If Gomez keeps up the good work, he will be a steal from the Blue Jays. The funniest thing this Spring Training is Sammy Sosa getting kicked out of the game against the Nats. The situation was just a huge misunderstanding and looks very bad for the stupid officials.

I am very happy the way things are going right now, and I hope it carries on.

Terps: Terps Lose Another Stupid Game

The Terps lose to VT Hookies Saturday in a must win game. This lost makes the likely of the Terps going to the NCAA tournament very unlikely unless they win the ACC tourney. The game was filled with miscues from the Terps and no back-court presence. The only Terp that seemed in the game was McCray. Nik Caner-Medley couldn't shoot to save his life and John Gilchrist kept turning the ball over every time the Terps could take the lead. The intensity of the Terps was none existent. What another disappointing year. I would go over the numbers of the game, but I am too depressed.

Ravens: Baxter Gone

Gary Baxter signed a 6 year/ 30 million dollar deal with rival Cleveland Browns. The Ravens still have a lot of options left on the free agent market to sign a good cornerback. The top cornerbacks left are Ty Law, Samari Rolle, and Fred Smoot, all of which would be a good fit. The Ravens do have other holes to fill like another receiver and a center.

Redskins: One Receiver Out, Two In

The Redskins completed a deal with the Jets that swapped receivers. Laveraneus Coles went to the Jets for Santana Moss Saturday, with the Redskins only paying 5 million of Coles bonus money. The day before (Friday), the Redskins signed David Patten to a three year deal. The receiving corps will look totally different come this next season. Rod Gardner is still seeking a trade, so no starting receiver will return for the Redskins. The Redskins do have depth at receiver with Darnerien McCants, James Thrash, and Taylor Jacobs fighting for the 3rd receiver spot. With the addition of Moss and Patten, the Redskins will be able to stretch the field and create more opportunities. The also signed center Casey Rabach to 13.75 million/ 5 year deal with a 2.5 million dollar signing bonus, which will solidify the line and give Patrick Ramsey the time to get the ball to his new receivers. The Redskins still need to sign a cornerback.

Ravens: 1 Day of Free Agency, 1 Player Signed

The Ravens agree to a 5 year deal with Derrick Mason. After being cut from the Titans last week for salary cap reasons, Derrick Mason joins a club desperately needing a big receiver. Mason is only 5'10, small for a receiver, caught 96 passes, had 1,126 yards, and caught 7 TDs. He isn't afraid of going though the middle of the field. He has caught for over 1,000 yards the last 4 years and no less then 5 TD catches over that period. That nearly doubles all other receivers in all categories. The exact details have not been released yet. The Ravens still need to sign at least one other receiver either through free agency or draft in order for this off-season to be a success. Of course this deal does upgrade the offense, just not enough yet.

UNC Beats the Terps

The Terps lose again to the Tar Heels again in a nail biting game. The Terps were down by 10 points by the half, but they batttled all 2nd half to tie up the game with about 3 minutes left in the game. The game went back and forth with time running out and with 16 seconds left in the game, the Heels are up by 2 points. With time running out, the Terps gave the ball to Mike Jones to make the big play and got his shot blocked by the Heels' May. This game was hard faught game and at the same time a dissappointing because the Terps had a chance to win against the ACC leaders. Now, Terps are on the verge of not making the NCAA tournament for the 2nd straight year and will likely have to get there through the ACC tournament. Can the Terps win throughout in the ACC tournament? Probably not! I think this is going to end of a long streak to the NCAA tourney. Unless Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech lose, the Terps will be watching the tournament at home. I hope I am wrong!

Ravens: Goodbye Kevin Johnson

The Ravens release Kevin Johnson who would have counted for about 1.4 million dollars against the salary cap. He was a gamble last year that didn't pay off. Of course, the Ravens are making an upgrade at the receiver position their #1 priority.

Rod Gardner and Laveranues Coles want out of their contracts with the Redskins organization. Gardner was given permission to seek out a trade with other teams, while Coles wants to be a free agent. The Coles situation right now is more interesting, for he agreed to give back some of his signing bonus to help out with the salary cap if he is released. The Redskins are currently in talks with the Jets to trade Coles for Santana Moss. As a 'Skins fan, I think this would be a good trade if Coles pays back some of his bonus money, which may not happen. The other option the Redskins have is to keep the disgruntle employee in a Redskins uniform.

I didn't watch the game and only caught a little of the game on the radio. I am now glad I didn't watch the game, with the highlights that I saw. I would have broke something in my house, what a bunch of crap. How can the Terps let Clemson score 97 points? Where was the defense that the Terps are known for? It isn't Gary Williams. The players have no heart to speak of. Here is a hint Terps, treat every oppenent like they are Duke. The next game doesn't get any better, the Terps face UNC. The NCAA tourney is slowly slipping away.

Coles Rumors

Rumors are flying around right now about what is going to happen with Laveranues Coles. Right now, it looks like Coles will be staying with the Redskins, for the Redskins will not release him. Another rumor that is going around is a possible trade with the Jets for Coles. Joe Gibbs at first denied reports of Coles not wanting to return with the Redskins. I personally feel it would be a huge mistake by the Redskins to trade or release Coles. He has been the Redskins best reciever the last 2 years and the only reciever who can catch the football on a regular bases.

Lamar Marshall re-signed with the Redskins this past week. He filled the shoes of Lavar Arrington last season after being a special teams stand out. He is a great re-signing, for Lamar may not be able to break the starting linebackers but will be a great back up in case someone goes down or needs rest. He signed a 3 year/ 2 million dollar deal.

Renaldo Wynn and Jon Janson restuctured their contracts to clear cap room and go under the salary cap by around 2 million dollars.

UMD slips past UVA...

I must first admit that I didn't watch the game until the second overtime, which probably a good thing because I would have broken my TV. Of course this game shouldn't have gone into one overtime, let alone two. But there the Terps were, in a 2nd overtime with Virginia who was 4-8 in conference and 13-10 overall. I am saying yet again, as long as the Terps aren't ranked, they can win games convincingly. This game should have been a blowout from the start, lucky for the Terps that the Cavaliers can't shoot a free throw. John Gilchrist had another good game with 22 points, and the Terps forced Virginia's center to foul out in the 2nd overtime giving the Terps control of the game. If you remember correctly, that is how the Terps beat the Dookies. I could feed you a bunch of bullcrap about how important this game was, and it could be, but the most important games are coming up. With only three games left before the ACC tournament, the Terps next 3 opponents are Clemson, UNC, and VT. For the season, the Terps are 1-2 against those opponents which puts the Terps in a sticky situation because that would a even count in the win-lose column, which is not a guarantee into the NCAA tournament. That would mean that the Terps would need the same kind of heroics as last year, which is probably impossible. The only thing on the Terps side right now is the only win this season against the last 3 opponents is against VT, who the Terps are tied with and play the last game against. As for the other two games, Clemson should be a win if the Terps don't look forward to the UNC game, and the UNC game should be a real test for the Terps and their chances in the tournament. FEAR THE TURTLE, unless ranked, lol.

The Terps Do It Again

After a big win, the Terps again lose to an unranked team. The Terps just can not keep consistent this year. I didn't watch the game, so I am not going to go through the game of mistakes. I just wish these guys can gel somehow and get into the tournament. The Terps need to stop getting ranked until the last game of the year, so they can stop losing,lol.

Terps Swepted the Dookies

This past Saturday, the Terps swept the Blue Devils (I know this not news to that many), and they have won the last three meeting dating back to the ACC tourney last year. The first half of the game was led by John Gilchrist, he finally shot the damn ball, and Nik Caner-Medley. The Terps ended the half on top 5 points over the Dookies. That all changed in the 2nd half when NCM or Gilchrist couldn't make a shot to save their lives and eventually got NCM benched with about 10 minutes left. The Terps were down by 13(if I remember correctly) which before tying it. Then, the Terps were acting like the wheels fell off their game, and were down by 8 points. Enter Mike Jones. Following a technical foul by a Dookie, Jones when on a 8-0 run by himself giving the Terps the momentum. With only seconds left, the Dookies tied the game and forced an forced overtime. The Dookies 2 centers fouled out in the 2nd half and the Terps had a huge advantage going into overtime. The Terps then proceeded to feed the Dookies their 2nd upset this season by winning 99-92. The funniest thing about this game is when the Terps were down in Cameron stadium at Duke, the fans chanted "Not Our Rivals". Well Dookies, The Terps are your rivals, to bad the Dookies aren't the Terps rivals, lmao.

Relief pitcher finally makes deal for O's

Jorge Julio signed a one year deal worth 2.5 million dollars. He is shaky at best as a closer and will likely be used as a set up man. The O's have only one more player remaining in arbitration, John Parrish.

A Redskin is Retiring

Brian Mitchell is going to retire as a Redskin next week. He is going to sign a one day deal with the Redskins to retire where he started his career. Brian was last in a Giants uniform and played for the Eagles, he was not really an impact player with the Giants or Eagles. He is one of the greatest return men in history and as a third down running back. His biggest strength as a running back was catching the ball out of the backfield. He set nine total records that include combined kick return yards (19,013), combined kick returns (1,070), combined kick returns for a touchdown (13), kickoff return yards (14,014), kickoff returns (607), punt return yards (4,999), punt returns (463) and fair catches (231). He was the best thing to happen to the Redskins in the 90's. Brian was the bright spot for the Redskins during this time, and it is great that he will retire as one.

Terps Finally End Losing Streak

Terps beat the VT Hookies 86-71 to finally end their losing skid against unranked teams. Where was all the scoring the last two games? Who knows. Nik Caner-Medley scored a team high 21 points and finally John Gilchrist makes some baskets, raking up 19 points. I am liking the way that Chris McCray, who is playing very well and is the only reason the Terps have even been close to winning the last couple games. He scored 16 points against the Hookies and has been a bright spot the last couple of games. Maybe, just maybe he is turning a corner and will take over the shooting guard spot. I can't wait for the Terps to be consistant or show some consistance somewhere in their game. Ekene Ibekwe misses his second straight game with a rib injury. The Terps next game is against the #7 Duke Blue Devils, who are looking for revenge for the last game, this Saturday at 9:00pm. I wish I had more to say about this game but the Hookies aren't that good, so I am not going to get to excited. (I might after Saturdays game, if the Terps can win)

The Last Week That I Didn't Cover

The last week I missed a lot of news and I will do a quick recap. The Terps suck again, Sosa became a Oriole, and the Superbowl was horrible.

After the Terps won 2 games against ranked teams (Duke and GT), the Terps get ranked again and then lose to two of the worse teams in the ACC. No one could shot the ball and the whole team made stupid mistakes in both Clemson and Miami games. Miami was the worse of the 2 teams because they were playing a freaking zone defense. How can you not score on a zone defense, I will never know. The Terps team this year is worse then last years team with the same players. Next game is against VT on Tuesday and I am still trying to decide whether or not to watch it.

Sosa became an Oriole and added another big bat to the lineup. Yes, Sammy Sosa has deminishing skills, but he can still hit better then most of the free agents out there. Adding Sammy this year makes this offseason half way successful because they didn't break the bank to add a mediocre player, which the offseason was riddled with.

The Superbowl went as predicted and still sucked. It was a boring game for the most part, and towards the end of the game, the Eagles looked like they didn't even want to play any more. On top of that, the Patriots kept on doing the Owens Bird dance which got really annoying because the players say they don't do that stuff. LIARS! The best part of the Superbowl was the MC Hammer commercial when he got his house forclosed.

Redskins Trading Rod Garner?

According to an article I read on sportsline.com, the Redskins are allowing Rod Garner to search for a trade. All I got to say is, thank god. He had stone hands all season long when he wasn't in the endzone. He seemed not go play with much effort and never amounted to a reciever picked in the first round. In the same article, Joe Gibbs denied interest in aquiring Randy Moss.

2 Games, 2 Upsets

For the 2nd straight game, the Terps knock off a top 25 team when they defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. I guess the ankle twist that Nik Caner-Medley suffered during the Duke game didn't hurt him that much. He lead the team with 19 points and is really becoming an offensive force for the Terps. The Terps did lead at halftime by 10, but let Georgia Tech make it a game in the second half, and for the second straight game the 8 point gap really didn't happen until real late in the second half. This whole game was well fought by both teams, but in the end the Terps came away with the win. The next opponent for the Terps is Clemson which should be an easy game with the roll the Terps are on right now, just as long as the Terps don't look past the Tigers. According to CBS Sportsline, the Terps are ranked #22 in the AP poll and #24 in the Coaches poll. The Terps are also in 4th place in the ACC now.

Maryland Terps Finally Beat Someone

The Terps get a big win last night by beating the #2 team in the nation, the Blue Devils. Everyone hates Duke if you are a Terp fan, so this win was extra special. After losing to NC State just two days prior, the Terps finally step up their defense to compete with Duke. The Terps still made to many bad shots and turnovers, but they forced more turnovers then they gave away. Nik Caner-Medley led the way with 25 points and 5 rebounds, one of which he injured his ankle. Nik kept the terps within striking distance of the Blue Devils the whole game. The Terps were down by 4 points at the half and fought back throughout the 2nd half. The lead changed plenty of times during the game, and the ending score was a little misleading. It wasn't until within 4 minutes, that the Terps started to pull away. Under two minutes, Coach K. Of the Blue Devils had the players failing the Terps. Amazingly, the Terps shot great at the line, which hasn't happened all year. The Terps hit 20-24 from the foul line, but still shot poorly out 3 point arc. This game could be the breakthough game of the year for the Terps. All year the Terps seemed antsy and impatient while playing good teams, and now they have gotten over the hump beating the #2 team in the country. Just a fan hoping I am right.

Carlos Delgado finally agrees to a contract, sadly with the Florida Marlins, Tuesday. I know I wanted the merry-go-round to stop, but I wanted it to stop in Baltimore, dammit. The front office offered Delgado 48 million over 4 years and were out bidded by the Marlins, who offered 52 million over 4 years and an option for a 5th year that would make it a 64 million dollar deal. This deal is just another strikeout for the O's this offseason. The O's lost bidding wars with Carl Pavano and Richie Sexson. The only real aquistions the O's have had is to the bullpen. I guess the only real player out their now in free agency is outfielder Magglio Ordonez who is now talking to the Detroit Tigers. Ah, the fun of being a Baltimore fan during the offseason.

The ride for teams trying to win the 1B man continues this weekend and Monday morning. The Mets and Texas were reportily out of the running for Delgado. And it seemed Monday morning that the only teams competing for him were the O's and the Marlins. The Mets then told ESPN that they did not drop out of the bidding war for Delgado. They were just waiting for Delgado to return their call. God when will this all stop. I wish that someone would just win and get it over with. The way this offseason is going for the O's, don't expect him in orange and black.

The O's front office have done little this offseason so far. They went into the offseason with a couple of agendas: Get an Ace pitcher and another Big Bat. Both are lacking with less then a month to go before Spring Training. They have made small pickups for depth, and they have avoided trading away talent for very little.

The O's have had plenty of chances to get their man to fill the Ace role in this offseason, and all the chances didn't pan out. First the O's were suppose to be the front runners for Carl Pavano going into the winter meetings and got outbidded by the Yankees. To be honest, Thank God. Pavano has only one good season and is a big roll of the dice if he can do it again. Pavano was well over payed by the Yankees. Next was Tim Hudson, I don't blame the front office for this one, but I do blame the A's front office for wanting so much for Hudson and not allowing the O's 72 hours to negotiate with Hudson. Last thus far is A.J. Burnett, the front office of the Marlins wanted Tim Hudson if they were going to trade Burnett. Since Hudson went to the Braves, the O's had no chance to get Burnett.

A couple of players were on the O's radar for a power hitter. Richie Sexson and Carlos Delgado were the front runners for the O's. The O's wanted to make Raffie the full time DH and get another 1B man. Sexson said he wanted to go to Baltimore or Seattle. Scott Boras (Sexson's agent) used the O's to hike up the price for the Mariners. Delgado still has a chance to come to Baltimore, but he has three other teams Delgado is considering. Marlins, Rangers, and Mets are on Delgados list. He is also rumored to want 5 years/15 million a year. This is a total rip off for a bat and no defense in a 32 year old player. Another rumor going around is a trade with the Devil Rays for 3B Audry Huff. This would be a great up for the O's because it could either put Mora back in CF or play 1B instead of overpaying a free agent.

The Ravens hire Rick Neuheisel to become the QB coach. He was the university of Washington head coach until 2003. He was fired for participation in a college basketball pool. He is a great pick up, and he will improve Kyle Boller's progression of being an NFL quarterback.

The Ravens say good by to a great coach, Mike Nolan, who was hired as the 49ers' head coach. He was the Ravens' offensive coordinator. This brings up an interesting situation for the Ravens, who are known for such a great defense, to see who will fill such big shoes that was vacated.

Rumors are going around that Jim Fassel will become the new offensive coordinator for the Ravens. Jim Fassel was the head coach of the Giants up until 2003 and senior consultant for the Ravens offense last year.

Too Late on Steroids!

I know everyone in baseball is patting themselves on the back for being able to come up with a real steroid program. Let me be one of the first to say, too late MLB. Records are tainted now, players already have their blown up contracts (Giambi & Bonds), and any big player will be accused of steroids.

To me, Roger Maris is still the single season homerun record holder. Bonds not knowing he was taking steroids from his good friend is a bunch of crap. If you look at pictures of 5 years ago of Bonds, you can see the spike of mass he gained in a short period of time. It was just a really good work out right. Heck, I would include Mark McGwire as being a steroid addict. I mean come on, he lasted two more years after he broke the record because of injuries. His body was breaking down from years of steroids. This record is now just a joke.

Now clubs like the Yankees have to play Giambi this year because they can't get rid of him. I hate the Yankees as much as anyone else, but this is just unfair to baseball as a whole. He should not be able to play at all. How much is he going to make in the next couple of years, I think around 84 mil. In the next 4 years. What about Barry Bonds you say, he made 18 mil. Last year, and will be around that this year. He sucks as an outfielder, and wears all that body armor so he can lean over the plate, and is on steroids. He is on track to break career all time records and should be put out of the game to prove a point.

All these players have now tainted all big time players in MLB. If someone were to hit 60 homeruns this year, what do you think the first question is going to be. I am also a dedicated baseball fan, but I know a lot of fans that are no more because of this suspicion of steroids in the game. Can MLB get these fans back after alienating them already. I think it will take many years to do such a thing. Good job MLB union.

The reason I didn't mention Slammin' Sammy Sosa is because everyone knows how he got in the record books. He is a corky.

This game was damned before it started, Gilchrist sat because he was late taking a test. The best player on the Terps team was not in the game. I think that Gary Williams was sending a message to his players. He is right for doing this, but it just sucks that it had to happen against WF. The Terps were down all game from what I saw on highlights. I didn't find the game on any channel, and I hate commenting on something I didn't watch. What I did see is that the team that the players are not on the same page. They made stupid mistakes the whole game and rushed their shots. This year was suppose to be easier then last because the Terps had almost everyone coming back. I think the biggest problem the Terps have is they don't have a true center that can dominate the middle. The Terps also don't have a true shooting guard to hit 3 pointers being as the team hit 1-14 in the game. What is worse is that they hit 7-16 at the line. Someone did comment on this site that the Terps are a late season team, which is true. The Terps do come one strong at the end of the season, but the stats the Terp players have are a little scary. I think they will get rid of the stupid turnovers. The question is which player is going to step up are start shooting good.

Terps vs. UNC

What a crappy game for the Terps yesterday. They lost big to the Tar Heels. Gary Williams said that he wanted to see how his defense was like. Hey Gary, it sucks. The Terps had no inside presence to challenge UNC's May. In the past, the Terps had been good at stopping transition teams, but they failed badly against the Tar Heels. Another problem I saw was the Free Throws the Terps were shooting. The first 15 minutes of the game when it was close, the Terps made a half a dozen trips to the line and not one player could hit two Free Throws. All around, this game was very disappointing and the schedule is only gets harder for the Terps. Coach Williams need to fix the team's problems fast or they are not going to make the NCAA tourny. I could pick apart the whole game, but I turned off the game at half time because I almost threw something at my TV. Next game is at Wake Forest on the January 11th.

The Orioles Report So Far...

The Orioles have done little this offseason for good and bad. The O's did pick up Steve Kline as a free agent from St. Louis. He is a good Relief Pitcher and is a definite upgrade over Buddy Groom who was released. They also picked up Chris Gomez as a free agent from Toronto as a infield utility player. He is a good cheap pick up. The O's have done nothing else and has not landed a big named free agent. This is a good thing because they are not spending truck loads of money on average players. It also seems as if the players agents are using the O's to hike up player prices. The problem with the O's is that the big name players want to win now, which would be hard with the Yankees and Redsox in the same division. The O's front office has hurt themselves by only trying to pick up #1 starting pitchers when there is good pitchers in the market. It is still early, but the O's need to make a couple of moves if they want to get the wild card spot this year.

Terps Mens B-Ball

I haven't been posting on the Terps so far for two reasons 1) because of the lack of competition the basketball team has been going up against so far, 2) because I have not watch a game yet. Both will change this Saturday at 12pm on ESPN when the Terps go up against the Tar Heels. This game will really gauge the Terps for the year. Can they really compete with the other top teams in the ACC. I think yes, they can. They have a good young team and Gary Williams is the coach. I will write a post after the game and give my thoughts.

Ravens Report for Week 17 and the Season

The Ravens ended the season on a high and low note Sunday against the Miami. The Ravens won the game but needed some help getting into the playoffs which didn't happen. The Ravens had a little chance becauce the Broncos were going against the Colts' second team players. The day was definitly bitter sweet. Maybe next year they can get over the hump. Here is what it looked like this year and some needs for next year by position.

QB: Brian Billick stuck with Kyle Boller throughout the season. Kyle Boller had a 55.6 completion %, 2559 yards 13 TDs, and 11 INTs. These numbers are not that bad for a second year QB. If he would have gotten a little help from his recievers, his numbers would be alot better. Boller did have a rough start in the beginning of the year, but he seemed to turn the corner against the Jets in a surprise victory. Boller is on a learning curve, but he does look like he getting more comfortable as the leader of this team

RB: The best part of the offense. Jamal Lewis is the best big back in the league and Chester Taylor is the best backup. Jamal Lewis ran for 1006 yards, 7 TDs, and had a 4.3 average. Chester Taylor ran for 719 yards, 2 TDs, and 4.5 average. The front office did a great thing by getting Taylor a long term deal as a backup. He could start for alot of teams.

Reciever: The worse part of the offense. The star of the recievers, Travis Taylor, had the most yards for 421 yards and no TDs. Kevin Johnson was brought in last offseason and only got 373 yards and 1 TD. The Ravens did try for Terrel Owens, but T.O. rejected the Ravens for Philly. What was worse, Todd Heap got hurt early in the year and by the time he came back he was ineffective. They need a lot of help.

Offensive Line: The line is a strong part of the Ravens. The line proved themselves when their leader, Jonathan Ogden, went down to injury and were still able to block most of the time. Ogden never really recovered from his injury which was shown against the Colts. The rest of the team was solid and didn't get beat often.

Defense: I was going to split this up too, but they are just great all the way around. The defense finished 6th in total defense. Ray Lewis had 146 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries, Ed Reed had 76 tackles with 2 fumble recoveries and 9 INTs and 1 TD. On a great defense, these two had the best year of any defensive players in the league. I don't know how they do it every year.

Redskins Report for Week 17 and the Season

The Redskins finished the season on a good note by beating the Vikings in the final week of the season. The win for the Redskins showed they have heart and a positive attitude for next year. It was a disappointing year for the Redskins, but they showed hope for the next season. The score of the game was misleading for the actual game. The Redskins controlled the ball on both sides of the game, and the game wasn't close until 2 seconds at the end with a Viking hail-mary. Betts ran well in place of Portis, and Ramsey played well enough not to lose the game. The defense was great again and didn't allow Culpepper to go off. The Redskins were helped out by dropped balls from the Viking receivers as well. The Redskins finished off the season winning one more game than last year. However, the feeling around the Redskins was a positive one unlike years past. The season had its ups and downs. Here is a look at the Skins by position.

Quarterback: The Redskins signed Mark Brunell in the offseason from Jacksonville and traded a draft pick. Mark Brunell was a huge disappointment for the Redskins. He could not throw the ball with any accuracy or power. He was constantly overthrowing or underthrowing the receivers. Brunell was benched after 9 weeks for Patrick Ramsey. Ramsey made his mistakes deep down field and across the middle of the field. He looked strong in some games and bad in others. Ramsey looked the worse against good defenses and great against bad defenses. Patrick Ramsey had 1665 yards, 62.1 completion %, 10 TDs, 11 INTs, and a 74 rating. Joe Gibbs has said that Patrick Ramsey will be the QB for 2005.

Running Back: Clinton Portis was traded from the Broncos for Chump Baily in the offseason. He has been great for the Redskins this season falling just short of rushing for 1500 yards for another year. Gibbs and Portis did have a learning process to go though. Portis is a middle back because he has great speed but is tough enough to go up the middle. The best play to run with him is a zone run which Gibbs found out later in the season. Gibbs likes pulling linemen during runs and Portis wasn't patient enough for them. The Redskins also found out that Ladell Betts is a descent backup for Portis, for Portis went down against the Dallas Cowboys. Betts ran for 118 yards and a TD against the Vikings.

receiver: The receivers were one of the most disappointing parts of the Redskins. They all had problems catching the ball and dropping balls constantly. The worse receiver is Rod Gardner, for the only time he wanted to catch the ball was when he was in the endzone. He has never amounted to the receiver worth picking up in the first round in the draft. Coles was the most dependable receiver for the Skins with 950 yards. Rod Gardner is going to become a free agent this coming offseason and the front office should let him go. I have backed up Gardner for a few years now, but I have just gotten fed up. The brightest spot for the Redskins was Chris Cooley. He is a rookie picked up in the late rounds of the draft. Cooley caught 37 receptions for 314 yards and 6 TDs. What a great find.

Offensive Line: The offensive line needs the most work during the up coming offseason for the Redskins. It took a major hit in the first preseason game when Jon Jansen got injured for the season with an Achilles tear. That injury set the tone for the whole season. Jansen was suppose to be the anchor of the line and he was gone. Samuels didn't live up to his contract this year, but he will get his money from the front office because the Redskins can't take a chance of not having someone average at left tackle. Right tackle was just a big rotation that never got solidified. Randy Thomas at right guard did his job and will be back next year, for his name wasn't mentioned much which is a good thing for linemen. Center and left guard needs to be upgraded badly. Cory Raymer is just not doing a good enough job their at center, and Derrick Dockery is not talented enough to handle Gibbs responsibility.

Defensive line: The line was suppose to be the weakness of the Redskins going into the season and became a solid foundation for the defense. Cornelius Griffin was the star of the line with 6 sacks and a tackling machine. The other members were a bunch of no names that got the job done. The Skins should not touch the line at all.

Linebackers: The linebackers were the most amazing part of the defense this year. Gregg Williams could have put anyone in their and they would be stars. Antonio Pierce was the surprise of the defense being so versatile. He learned every linebacker position, so when Williams asked him to be the QB of the defense at MLB. He exceeded everyone's expectations by leading the team in tackles at 112 tackles. Michael Barrow was brought in to be MLB and is now a liability with his huge contract on the bench. Marcus Washington was the other free agent pick up and a good one. He was second on the team with 107 tackles at strong linebacker. Weakside linebacker was a rotation door when Lavar Arrington went down with a bad knee in week 4. It wasn't a stand out position but was solid.

Secondary: During the offseason the Skins traded away Chump Bailey, so the pressure was on Fred Smoot to be the shut down corner. He rose to the challenge and became the corner the Skins thought he would be. On the other side, the Redskins brought in Shawn Springs who was know for always being injured. Well, he wasn't this year. Springs has 6 sacks and 5 INTs. He was great at run support and a physical corner in the secondary. He was a great addition during the offseason. Sean Taylor was drafted last year and blossomed in a good hard hitting free safety as a rookie. At times, Taylor was a caught out of position, but that is expected from a rookie. At strong safety, Matt Bowen started off the year at this position. He got injured and put on injure reserve early in the season. Andre Lott was then put at strong safety and he too was injured and on reserve. Finally Ryan Clark was placed and finished at strong safety. All three did a great job at this position. This will be a great rotation or trade bait for next year. All of these guys did a great job this year.

The Redskins needs to bring back everyone from the defense and tweak the offense this offseason. If the Redskins can stay away from the overrated players and make some solid additions, they could be a real contending team.

Prediction Results for Week 17

This was the hardest week to make picks since the opening weeks of the season. Players were sitting out of games, hot teams turned cold, and somehow a team went 15-1 with backups.

The teams that sat players were almost all that were guarenteed playoff spots. The list includes Indy, SD, Philly, NE for the last quarter, and Atl. San Deigo some how stopped KC and won. Indy, Philly and Atl. just took their losses, and NE pounded the 49ers by starting everyone including Brady until late in the 3rd quarter.

The worse thing this week was the hot teams or heavily favored teams just choked. The Vikings were suppose to stomp the Redskins and came up very short compared to what the score says. Buffalo lost to the Steelers' backups in what was a meaningless game for Pitt. Carolina lost to N.O. which is a huge upset to me, for Carolina came into the game just dominating teams and let the Ain'ts to beat them at home.

The most amazing game this week was the Steelers @ Buffalo game. Buffalo came into the game extremely hot, had a good defense, and ran the crap out to McGahee. They were upset to find out that the Steelers have a lot of good backups that could beat most teams. To me, the Steelers have an attitude that they will win every game, and they do. Big Ben, Bettis, Ward, Burress, and most of the defense sat out of the game. Bledsoe played like he did when a Pat., and the Buffalo Defense just didn't come up with enough big plays.

Week 16 Redskins Report/ Week 17 Preview

I know I missed the preview of the Redskins last week because I thought it would jinks them. This week the Skins go against the Vikings

The Redskins were so close to beating the Cowboys this weekend only to blow it in the last 30 seconds on a long pass to a nobody. I am starting to feel like the Redskins are becoming the Red Sox by being cursed. Is this ever going to stop for us. This kind of think the Redskins are becoming the Yankees of 04. Spending the money, and getting nothing in return. Why go to a prevent defense late in the game? I hate being a Redskins fan. We hear all the hipe in the offseason, only to be let down with a terrible season and can't even beat an over the hill Cowboys. I don't want the best players in the league playing for the Redskins, I only want the best team in the league to be the Redskins. The Redskins should find a way to let go Michael Barrow this offseason, and spend money on quality offensive line. Pierce can play MLB very well and should be the starter next year. The good news is that Patrick Ramsey has been named the QB for next year.

This weekend is the last game for the Redskins, I hope they can end on a high note. The Vikings should have lost last week and just got lucky. They struggle badly against a good defense. This should benifit the Skins very much if they don't give up the big play. The offense is starting to look like they could be better and brings hope for next year. My prediction is a win by 3 points.

The Ravens lost to the Steelers pretty badly but they are still alive for the playoffs with some help from a couple of teams.

The Ravens couldn't stop the machine that is the Steelers. They are just to good of a team to beat especially one that is struggling on offense. Even with Heap back, Kyle Boller was not up for the challenge of the Steelers. The Ravens defense tried to hold the Steelers offense as much as possible but struggled badly with Randle El. Randle El just made too many good plays.

Now the Ravens need help to get into the offense and need to beat the Dolphins. The Dolphins are stuggling very badly on offense and are just playing for Draft pick now. As long as the Ravens don't let their heads get to big for themselves like the Pats did. The Ravens also need Jaquars, Broncos, and Bills to all lose. This is all possible because they have messed up in the past. The Bills are the greatest threat because they are playing with the biggest heart. We will see if the Football Gods will help the Ravens this Sunday.

Denver @ KC- I know that KC can score points, but how was Denver held to only 17 points against that bad of a defense. And Chump Bailey was suppose to make this defense better, Washington got the better end of the deal buddy.

The Ravens Report Week 15

The Ravens travel to Indy for hard fought battle and come up short.

The Raven's defense did what they had to confusing Manning often. The only mistake really made was by Chris McAlister getting burned by Harrison on a 27 yard pass. They held the high powered offense to one touchdown thru the air and one on the ground. Manning was unable to catch Marino against the Ravens, and Manning kneeled down at the end of the game instead of running up the score. This was the right thing to do and was very sportmanly, even if the fans didn't think so. All the Ravens defense did this game was hold the highest scoring offense to their lowest production of the season. The defense was not the reason for the lost.

The offense is what cost the Ravens the game against the Colts. Kyle Boller did not let down being a bad quarterback against good teams. Heck, the Colts defense is not good at all. The only play maker on the Colts defense is DE Feely who burnt Jon Ogden often. What didn't make any sense to me is why Ogden wasn't getting very much help after the beginning the game when Feely kept on putting pressure on Boller. Kyle Boller was a liability by throwing 2 INTs, but he did throw a touchdown to his favorite reciever Todd Heap. Losing this game just about sealed the deal of not going into the playoffs unless Jacksonville loses in the next 2 weeks. I put all the blame on the offense and Brian Billick not putting in a better QB.

The Redskins Report Week 15

The Redskins went into San Francisco clear favorites and didn't upset their fans.

The Redskins should have emailed San Fran. "We are not Arizona, Look out." The Redskins offense just stomped all over the 49ers. This just points out how bad the 49ers defense really are. Ramsey threw over 200 yards and one touchdown, Gardner finally held onto the ball for 6 catches and over 100 yards, and Portis ran for 110 yards. The Redskins also got some help on offense by Pierce catching a interception and running it back for 78 yards. Is the Redskins a top notch offense? No, but at least they showed life for one of very few games this past game. The Skins need help on offensive line and recievers. But they are finding out who they have for next year.

The Redskins defense stopped a injured riddled offense. They did give up some points, but they again didn't allow 100 yards on the ground. They had their first touchdown in a few years. I don't know how these guys are doing this with all the injuries. My biggest fear for next year is that Gregg Williams will not be the defensive coach next year. This game was also Lavar Arrington's first game back since getting injured. Most of the time he was coming off the edge of the D-line. He looked good, with speed and fearlessness. That is a good sign for next year. The defense is the biggest bright spot this year and are ranked #2 in the NFL.

The Redskins go on the road this week, and the Ravens host Indy. Both games are important to these teams.

The Redskins go on the road this week to San Francisco. This should be an easy win for the Redskins because the 49ers defense is non-existant and the only reciever the Niners have is a TE. The Skins should just go out and have fun for this contest. On another note, the last three games the Skins play is San Fran, Dallas, and Minn. All of these games are winnable, if the Skins won out they would end the season 7-9 and on a positive note. Plus, the record would be an improvement from last season's 5-11. Gotta look at the positive. Prediction is a 13 point win.

The Ravens are still fighting for a playoff spot playing the Colts. They will have their hands full with Manning going after the record. This game is winnable for the Ravens if they play their game and don't get into a shootout with Manning. What do the Ravens need to do to win this game? Run Jamal Lewis and Chester Taylor often to keep the Colts offense off the field, shutdown Edge, and don't let Boller make a stupid mistake. If the Ravens do all those things for 4 quarters, they could win. My prediction is a lost by 7 points.

Well we watch a one team blow out another this week and one lose a nail biter(I didn't need them anyway). Either way it was good football all the way around.

Losers First... The Redskins lost to Eagles for the second time this year. This game they lost in a heartbreaking fashion with Patrick Ramsey throwing a pass to Chris Cooley in triple coverage. This was a big mistake, for Joe Gibbs decided to go for the win in one big play instead of playing conservitive. I think it was the right call because what do the Redskins have to lose. People they are 4-9, were are they going? Nowhere. Take a chance and see what happens, what you can use next year, what players you want to keep. This was not a bad idea and I am tired of hearing how bad it was that they took a chance against a 11-1(at the time) team and almost won.

The Ravens stomped the Giants, beating them all around. Eli was no match for the defense, and the offense looked like a well oiled machine. Todd Heap was a big reason for their success catching 2 touchdowns and was a vital part of getting first downs. The defense made up for week before's performance and just owned the Giants. It wasn't until Kurt Warner made an appearance that they got some points and were in a prevent defense. All around the ravens had a performance. I would also wanted to add that Kyle Boller is finally starting to become the quarterback we were promised by Brian Billick and threw 4 TDs in the game and only one interception. What a great job he did against a weak defense of the Giants.

Final Thought: The Redskins need to keep taking chances and just have fun for the rest of the year and let the players prove their worth or unworthiness. The Ravens need to continue their trend of not making mistakes on offense and making big plays on defense.

Week 14 Redskins/Ravens Preview

The Ravens are trying to get into the playoffs and the Redskins are just trying to justify this season. Both teams have a lot to fight for in the final weeks of the regular season, so I will get on with it.

The Ravens welcome in the struggling NY Giants into town. The Giants started off the season strong and went completely south after making Eli Manning their starting QB. The Ravens will again be with out Jamal Lewis in this contest, and Chester Taylor will fill in for him yet again. The only threat the Giants really have in this game is Tiki Barbar who was held in check last week by the Redskins. This game should be easily won by the Ravens who are looking to bounce back after a lackluster 4th quarter against the Bengals. The Ravens defense knows they were embarrassed last week and will make up for it. The leader of the team, Ray Lewis, has gotten pissed off at the press for asking what happened last week and will motivate him even more for this game. Anytime Ray Lewis gets pissed the other team should watch out, sorry Giants but you are going to get your butts handed to this game. I predict that the Ravens will win this game by at least 17 points.

The Redskins have a huge challenge ahead of them going against the Eagles this week on prime time television. This will test the Redskins offense who seemed to start coming together last week against the Giants. Granted it was against the Giants, but the Redskins just seemed to finally have a spark. The receivers went after the ball and made some tough catches, and Patrick Ramsey didn't try to force the ball down the field to many times. Of course, the Redskins defense played a great game and didn't lose any intensity during the later parts of the game to allow the Giants back in it. If the Redskins can play with the same kinda heart, they at least have a chance. The last meeting between the two teams was close until the 4th quarter when it looked like the defense just gave up because the offense couldn't do anything against the Eagles. Donovan McNabb is coming off a career win over the Green Bay Packers in which he threw 5 touchdowns to three different receivers. The Eagles are clicking on all cylinders at the moment and look unstoppable. If the Redskins want to win this game, they are going to have to shove Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts down the Eagles defenses throats, for the Eagles run defense is the only weakness on the team. This also means if they get down in the game, they still need to run in order to have a chance. As another plus, running the ball will keep the Eagles big play offense off the field. I am hoping they win by a field goal, I know it is a pipe dream, but we all need some right.

Winter Meetings for the O's

The winter meetings are about to begin for MLB and the O's. This is the start of the organization trying to court their free agents. The Orioles only have a couple of wholes to fill this offseason unlike last season. According to the Orioles Official Site, the O's main priority is pitching and a right hand batter that can hit south paws. This is a look at players that are on the radar on Friday Dec. 10th.

Pitching:

Carl Pavano- 2004 Stats were 18-8 with a 3.00 ERA, he pitched over 200 innings, allowed 16 HRs and had 139 strike outs. He has progressively gotten better threw the years and seems to be hitting his prime. The only downside with him is many teams want him which will hike up his price. Best Pitch is the slider.

Brad Radke- he was on the radar until he signed with the Twins for two more years.

Eric Milton- 2004 Stats were 14-6 with a 4.75 ERA, he pitched over 200 innings, allowed 43 HRs and had 161 strike outs. He is a lefty which is always a coveted quality in a pitcher, led the Phillies in wins. He doesn't get rattled in tough situations, but he is sometimes inconsistent. Best pitch is the slider.

Derek Lowe- 2004 Stats were 14-12 with a 5.42 ERA, he pitched in 182.2 innings, allowed 15 HRs and had 105 strike outs. He has been inconsistent the last couple of years but performs well under pressure. He is a ground ball pitcher and would benefit greatly with the O's infield. Best pitch is the sinker when working.

Kevin Millwood- 2004 Stats were 9-6 with a 4.85 ERA, he pitched in 141 innings, allowed 14 HRs and had 125 strike outs. His ERA has been increasing in the last couple of years and is constantly injured. Given the luck of the Orioles, the injuries should throw up a red flag. The Orioles are just now getting rid of Omar Daal. Best pitch is a running fastball.

Odalis Perez- 2004 Stats were 7-6 with a 3.25 ERA, he pitched in a 196.1 innings, allowed 26 HRs and had 128 strike outs. He had a 15 win season in 2002 and hasn't matched it since. His record does not represent how he pitched, but he still needs to prove he is a top pitcher in the league. The O's should not go after him, for the O's need veteran pitchers and not ones that need to be developed. Best pitch is the fastball

1st Base:

Carlos Delgado- 2004 Stats were .269 batting average, 99 RBIs, 32 HRs, and 123 hits. He can hit with power to all fields and only 32 years old. He has already came out and said if signed by the O's he will stand during the National Anthem. He is a left handed batter that can finish off the lineup for the O's and would also make Palmerio a definite DH.

Richie Sexson- 2004 Stats were .233 batting average, 23 RBIs, 9 HRs, and 21 hits. He was injured for the most part in 2004 season. He has great range as a batter but isn't patient at the plate. He is always a threat to go deep even when behind in the count. He is also under 30 years old.

Outfield:

Carlos Beltran,CF- 2004 Stats were .267 batting average, 104 RBIs, 38 HRs, and 160 hits. He is the highest profiled player on the market and is looking for a 10 deal. The O's are reportly not very interested in Beltran, this could be a ploy. He is a versatile play with power and great defense. He is 27 years old.

Magglio Ordonez,RF- 2004 Stats were .292 batting average, 37 RBIs, 9 HRs, and 59 hits. He can be an offensive monster when he is healthy. He has a questionable knee that was just worked on. He is asking for a big contract, Can anyone say Belle or Sequi. O's should stay away from this man. He is 30 years old.

Moises Alou,LF- 2004 Stats were .293 batting average, 106 RBIs, 39 HRs, and 176 hits. He had a career year in 2004 and is getting up there in age. It is highly unlikely he could repeat these numbers in 2005. He is also at times a bad influence in the clubhouse, this would be a bad pick up for the O's. He is currently 38 years old

Maryland lost to GW in the BB&T by almost ten points. This Terps team was suppose to have a much better defense this year and it just hasn't happened. George Washington should not be able to score over a hundred points on this team. On the other hand, Maryland loses a couple of games every year to scrub teams. Hopefully they have gotten it out of their system losing to GW and can get back on track. The Terps are currently at 4-2 for the season and have fallen to 23rd in the AP poll. Gary Williams needs to get these guys back on track and play some defense. This team is very talented and needs to play with some discipline. NC-Asheville is next for the Terps and should be an easy win for them to sharpen their skills. 12/12/04 on Sunday if you are interested in watching the game.

Finally...NFL Week in Review (WIR) 13

I am finally back from messing with my house. I am moved in, settled, ready to talk some sports. I know I haven't wrote anything in a couple of weeks, and I am not going to go back and talk about them. The past is the past and everyone knows what has happen. This is week 13 in the NFL, the home teams both played well, just one fell short. Lets get this show on the road...

As always, the losers of the week is first. The Ravens played the Bengals and all I heard about was how good Carson Palmer was all day Monday. The fact is that the Ravens' defense seemed to quit in the 4th quarter. The defense looked like they didn't believe that Carson could beat them, so they just walked around like they didn't care. The defense finally tried to make a play to late in the game when they had lost the momentum. Kyle Boller didn't make any big mistakes and Chester Taylor ran for 139 yards which should have been enough to beat the Bengals. Sure Palmer passed for 200 yards in the 4th quarter which is really good against the Ravens, however, this stat is telling because teams don't do this against the Ravens. This just proves the fact that the Ravens didn't believe it could happen, and they realized it could happen to late. This lost goes right to the defense, and their lackluster play in the 4th quarter.

Now to the surprising winner this week, the Redskins finally win by beating the injury riddled Giants. The Giants were led by Eli Manning who came out way to early as a rookie, and a defensive line that couldn't stop even Eddie George. This doesn't mean I am taking away anything from the Redskins who finally seemed to come together as a team on offense. Rod Garner finally learned how to catch the ball, and Joe Gibbs ran the crap out of Clinton Portis. Portis passed the 1000 yard mark for the season and could still match his 1500 yard out put while with Denver. Of course the Skins' defense played great against the rookie Manning, and the Giants receivers looked like they got the virus of the dropsies. Ramsey also played an important role in this win, Gibbs didn't allow him to force the ball down the field and kept it simple and short. Patrick did seem to force the ball into double coverage a couple of times but the Redskins' receivers actually went after the ball instead of waiting for it. The biggest reason the offense won though was the offensive line. They were finally able to protect the QB, the line really misses Jon Jansen. All in all, the offense just clicked all game.

The Final Thought: The defense of the Ravens failed badly against a bad team and needs to get back on track. The Redskins need to take this momentum on offense to another level if they want to compete with the Eagles next week.

Week 11 Maryland Football Preview

This week is going to be a easy game for one team and a very big underdog for the other.

Losers first: The Redskins are going up against the Eagles this week. I don't even believe they could win this one. Yes, finally Patrick Ramsey is starting, but it won't be enough against the Eagles. Patrick will make some mistakes and they will be costly, so expect that from him. But don't lose faith for him yet because he has the ability to win games, even if it ain't this one. The #2 defense in the league will give the Eagles a run for their money, but they can move the ball so well, and the Redskins can't. That is the difference between the teams. I see the Skins losing by a pair of touchdowns.

Last Week Winners: The Ravens will win three straight with this game. The Cowboys have just fallen apart this year. They bought too many over the hill veterans, and they should be easy picking for the Ravens defense. Kyle Boller displayed that he could finally throw the ball, hopefully that was his coming out party and he can continue the trend. Another problem that the Ravens should be able to exploit on the Cowboys defense is the running game. The Cowboys haven't been able to stop much in the past weeks. I see the Ravens winning by at least a touchdown

Depending on what team you route for this could be a good week or another losing week. Hopefully I am wrong on the first game, and right on the second.

Terps Basketball 11/19

The Terps stomped Jackson State by almost 40 points. The Terps started running away from Jackson State after halftime. Garrison reached a career high of 21 points and topped all scorers in the game. I know this game was suppose to be a push over for the Maryland Terps, however, they have choked before. I am very happy that the Terps are starting off strong. If the Terps were in any other coference, they would be ranked higher in the polls. Good job Gary Williams.

Sorry about not giving you a preview of the game against Virginia Tech. It didn't matter in the end because they got their butts kicked all over the field. The defense couldn't even make up for all the mess ups on offense. Ralph Freidgen replaced the quarterback 2 times and got nothing from any of them. In total the Terps gave up 5 turnovers, 4 in the first half, and the defense couldn't recover. They lost the game by halftime. This disqualifies the Terps from a bowl this year. This year will be the first time since Ralph has been at Maryland that they will not be playing in January. Time to start building for next year,lol. The Terps have only one more game to loss

Terps Open Basketball Schedule against Jackson State

The Terps are currently ranked #7,#10,#15,#16 depending on what poll you look at. The fact is that the preseason poll means nothing. The Terps open the season against Southwestern Athletic Conference which does not have any of its teams ranked. If you follow the Terps yearly, you know that they lose games every year to bad teams. Jackson State should not be taken lightly in the Terps' season debut. Don't get me wrong, I definitly think that the Terps should be able to crush the Tigers at home. I am just warning you of the fact that they have choked on lower competition before. The game is set to start at 8:oo pm on Friday the 19th. My prediction is that the Terps win by 20 points.

Well good news people, I was in the win column this week. I picked decently this week although my upset didn't pan out. I was amazed the Houston Texans gave up that many points to the Colts. I thought they would have been a little bit more competitive than they were. Oh well, that put me in the losing side of upset results. I was also disappointed in the Redskins loss, yet I did get my wish of Patrick Ramsey starting at quarterback. Seattle was a bust yet again this week, and the Giants keep losing to bad teams.

Week 10 Results: 8-6

Week 10 in Review

Maryland split this week in football. One team keeps finding ways to win, and other finds new ways to lose. Change is in the air for one team, and the other refuses to change. Both teams have great defenses, but only one has a winning record.

Losers first in this review. The Redskins lost again to a bad team, the Bengals, in the game on late Sunday afternoon. They find ways to lose every game, the three won by the Redskins was luck, or set themselves up to fail. The defense allowed 17 points earlier in the game, yet they didn't let the Bengals to score again. Brunell started off terrible again after the first play of the game from the Bengals was an Carson Palmer interception, and the Skins couldn't score. Brunell stats by the middle of the 2nd quarter was: 1-8 completions, 1 interception, 6 yards. Finally, Gibbs pulled the over the hill QB for Patrick Ramsey. This was a great move, I have liked Ramsey since he has come to Washington, because he has a great arm, zip on the ball, and he can hit the recievers in the hands or numbers. All of the things Brunell lacks. The best thing about Ramsey in my mind though is that he will either win or lose a game for the team, but Brunell won't do either. The only time the Redskins have won this year is on Clinton Portis's legs. I, like you should be, am not expecting Ramsey to be the Godsend of the Redskins, for he is going to throw interceptions at costly times, the recievers need to learn how to catch the damn ball, and Gibbs needs to run the crap out of the Portis. Which brings up another disappointment about Sunday, Joe Gibbs only ran Portis 17 times against the worse run defense in the leaque. I understand getting away from the run when down late in the game, but the Redskins got away from the run in the beginning of the 2nd quarter. I totally didn't get this move. I have blamed Brunell for alot in my columns, and Brunell was at fault for alot. I also blame the reciever for dropping to many passes, Gibbs for not controlling the game well, the line for not blocking well, and the Refs for having it out for the Redskins this year. Once the coaching staff fixes some of these other problems, the Redskins might have a chance to even out for the year. The Redskins schedule just gets harder from here.

Baltimore on the other hand is the winning football team in Maryland, and Kyle Boller finally did something to help his team. This was a great win for the Ravens over the Jets, for if the Ravens are in a tie going into the playoffs with the Jets, the Ravens would win the tie breaker because of this game. The Ravens did have some luck on their side, for the Jets were without Chad Pennington. Quincy Carter had to start for the Jets who started the game off strong and fizzled in the end. The Ravens were also on the benefitting end of bad clock management in the final seconds of the game when Carter couldn't get his team in position to win the game. They had to settle for a field goal to send it to overtime. After 3 three and outs the Ravens finally got in position to win with a Stover field goal. Jamal Lewis didn't get over 100 yards in the game, and Kyle Boller threw 2 touchdown. This is the exact opposite of how they been winning. Kyle Boller finally looked descent this game, yet everyone jumped on the bandwagon of Boller after the game. I am not sold yet. He did win the game for the Ravens, true, but he needs to do it in more then one game in a season. Do it again Boller and I will believe. All in all this was good game for the Ravens, they got behind early and came back to win against a good team.

Final Thought: Thank you Gibbs for finally giving Ramsey a chance to play, and I hope he give the Skins the spark they have been waiting for. For the Ravens, I said it already, I am not sold on Boller yet, but he did do better then he has been for the season, just show me you can do it again.

Week 10 Preview

This looks to be a good weekend for the Maryland teams this week. One good thing already happened, the Terps don't play this week so they can't lose.

The Redskins host the Bengals this week. These two teams are struggling with their offense although the Redskins have a defense and the Bengals don't. This game should be a win for the Redskins if the offense doesn't turn the ball over. Hopefully the special teams or trick play doesn't decide the game for the Redskins this week and they can get some production out of the offense. Just maybe, Mark Brunell will get hurt and Patrick Ramsey will be put in. Please Joe, give Patrick a chance. I see the Redskins winning by a touchdown.

The Ravens play the Jets in New York and are a very lucky team. Chad Pennington is out of action for a couple of weeks, and Quincy (Captian Crackhead) Carter. Carter should be easy pickings for the Ravens Secondary, and the Jets have proven they can be run on this season which is good news for the Ravens offense. Since the Ravens have no passing attack, they always have to rely on Jamal Lewis to win this game. I am going with the Ravens by a field goal.

This may turn out to be a good weekend all the way around for Maryland. Happy hunting boys.

Baltimore @ N.Y. Jets: Jets are without Pennington for a couple of weeks, Carter will make to many mistakes against the Ravens.

Detroit @ Jacksonville: The Lions couldn't do anything against Washington's defense. The same will be held true against Jacksonville's defense

Seattle @ St. Louis: Seattle actually has been good this year away from home. The Rams just suck.
